Updated: Jul 3

Do you want to know who's the real star in every fiesta, birthdays, or any grand event for Filipino families? Clue: Everyone enjoys the taste of the skin and the sound that it makes during the bite because of its crispness!

That's right! It is the traditional famous dish Lechon baboy!

Lechon is a pig that is roasted in low fire over charcoal that originated from Spain.

Cebu is the most famous province in the Philippines to serve the most delicious Lechon baboy. The good news is that you do not need to book a flight to Cebu to taste that juicy and crispy pig because you can just find them in Quezon City.

Manong's Lechon Cebu started in Metro Manila in 2009. Their goal was to become one of the top online Cebu lechon in the Metro. They maximized the free exposure that they get from Facebook which is new at that time. Mr. Roland Panares, owner of Manong's Lechon Cebu is 100% Cebuano. He was a chef and been cooking lechon since high school.

The recipe came from her grandma and volunteered to convert the sacred recipe into a money-generating business. He decided to start the business in Metro Cebu to bring that elusive Cebuano taste to the people of Metro Manila.

The name Manong's Lechon Cebu has no other meaning except that it catches the attention of the public easily. "Manong" can easily be recalled and understood by a lot of people even if you are not a Cebuano. What differs them from other lechoneros in Metro Manila is the taste of their lechon as they have a different way of grilling it.

Other specialties of Manong's Lechon Cebu include Lechon bangus, Lechon Baka, spaghetti, and lumpia Shanghai which featured on National TV several times in 2009.
