Ever feel like going inside a closet (reference to Chronicles of Narnia) and finding an entire new place just to drink alone or with a few friends?

Here are the top 5 speakeasies in Metro Manila that you should have tried by now.


Good news to Non-smokers because this bar implemented a no-smoking code. You may find this bar located in the friendly neighborhood of Makati, It has an intimate long bar, curated music, crafted cocktails, draft & bottled beers and the ever-present wide selection of superb spirits. This bar is for people who would like a start a conversation with a stranger or bring a friend for late-night talks.

When you are searching for Bank bar through Waze or google map and it says you have reached your destination, yet you only see a 711 store. Don't fret, You are not lost! Behind the convenience store storage room is Bank Bar — named after the bank building it’s in. While the place takes inspiration from art-deco styles, the vibe is also kind of modern, with its marble counters and contemporary art flashed on the walls.

Mandalay is definitely one of the coolest places you can bring someone. It's a hidden bar that you get to pass through the British pub Belle and Dragon. You go to the back, enter what looks like a closet, past some hanging coats, and through red velvet curtains.

4. ABV

ABV is a true tribute to the 1920s speakeasy and is even decorated to resemble that era. It’s hidden behind a hamburger and hotdog diner in Makati. You’ll have to look for a door that looks like it’s going to an elevator shaft, or listens out for cool, laid back jazz music and follow the sound.


A modern Japanese Cafe dedicated to all things Matcha has expanded to the booze business. Their most recent expansion is Nomu, a Japanese Speakeasy. It’s no surprise that they expanded towards the liquor circle as drinking is a shared interest between the Filipinos and the Japanese.

Seats are limited as well. Nomu can easily get crowded with 20 people inside.


Vitto’s Wine Bar and Restaurant is a hole-in-the-wall kind of wine place up North that offers fine whites and reds sourced from all over the world. They also have a great selection of tapas, pizzas, and other dishes that work well when paired with wine.

Its theme is in line with nature, giving the whole place a garden-like setting that will make you feel far from the urban scenario. Located at La Fuerza Plaza in Chino Roces is the perfect little scret after a long day’s work. This place isn't what I would say is for everyboday. The ambience has an indie vibe to it. One definite plus factor is their Meanwhile, sample their signature Mule.
