On The Big Screen: Warner Bros. releases sequel to Stephen King's 'The Shining' with Doctor Sleep
Doctor Sleep is an upcoming American horror film based on Stephen King's 2013 novel which follows his 1977 novel entitled "The Shining."
The film takes place several decades after the events of The Shining, starring Ewan Mcgregor as Dan Torrance, a man with psychic powers who struggles with childhood trauma.
Dan's character first appeared in Stephen King's novel and the 1980's film, The Shining, as a child with psychic powers called "the shining". The story starts with the attained peace that Dan got after many years since the horrifying incident in The Shining. His peace is interrupted when he encounters Abra (Kyliegh Curran), a teenager who shares his same unique ability to "shine."
Warner Bros. plans to release Doctor Sleep in theaters globally on October 30, 2019 and in the United States and Canada on November 8, 2019
